The word weblog has been contracted to Blogs which is used to describe a website maintaining the information about the most happening thing. A blog is a personal diary type commentary which is present on a website and the person owning it updates it on a regular basis with new stuff like new commentaries, new discussions, new graphics or videos and links to different related websites. The ongoing chronicle of information can be related to any thing. It can be personal or political. It may focus on a wide group of subjects or may narrow down to a single subject. The term blog has recently taken a looser new meaning with the entrance of video blogs. Another type of famous blogs is the corporate blogs which can be for private use or for business purpose. They can be used for marketing, branding or even for the purpose of public relations. Media blogs comprise of videos so they are also called Vlogs. If the blog contains links it is called linklog, if it contains a portfolio of sketches it is called sketchblog. Blogs can be differentiated on the basis of device creating them. A moblog is one which is created by using a mobile phone or a PDA. Blogs are also categorized by their genre like fashion blogs, political blogs, educational blogs, musical blogs.

Thus a blog is any thing which a person wants to say aloud and share with people hence placed online. The popularity of blogging can be realized by the fact that online blog search engines and blog directories are present. People even use blogs to advertise their stuff.
